A USDA Home Loan from the USDA loan program, also known as the USDA Rural Development Guaranteed Housing Loan Program, is a mortgage loan offered to rural property owners by the United States Department of Agriculture. A USDA home loan is a zero down payment mortgage for eligible rural and suburban homebuyers. USDA loans are issued through the USDA loan program.


What inspections are required for a USDA loan?

  • While home inspections are highly encouraged, they are not required.

  • After appraisal has been completed, additional inspections may be necessary.

  • Private Wells and individual water system will require a water quality test.

  • No septic tank inspections, unless otherwise required by the appraisal.

Typically clients with USDA loans order the following:

  1. General Inspection (starting at $285)

  2. Wind Mitigation ($75)

  3. 4-Point Inspection ($125)

  4. WDO "Termite" - $125-145 (subcontracted out)

  5. Septic Inspection - Prices very (subcontracted out)

  6. Water Sample Testing - $100 (if applicable well water system)
